II. Endorsement
As the Vice-President, Strategic Services & Facilities Administration for the New York Blood Center (NYBC), I have direct oversight of all the organization’s facilities. It is through this role that I have not only come to know Reza Aghian and his firm Research & Academic Architecture (RAA) but also hold Reza and his firm in the highest regard for the work that they have done and continue to do for NYBC.
Reza has a keen ability to understand the multiple facets of our business which include traditional manufacturing processes and the operation of a world-renowned research institute. Reza has a facility for grasping the work of our scientists and laboratory personnel, the operation of their equipment, and the general requirements of efficient laboratory and manufacturing workflow. RAA has performed numerous design projects for NYBC and remains our “go-to” firm whenever such additional work presents itself.
In addition to traditional architectural design work, Reza has also worked with NYBC on an extensive master space planning project under which the entire portfolio of corporate sites was evaluated for its efficiency and fit with current business needs. Reza was a primary contributor to this project which required a deep understanding of NYBC’s overall business and where the organization was headed strategically. Substantively, this work involved a review of central supply operations, warehousing, consolidation of manufacturing from multiple sites into one location, and the understanding of fleet management requirements. Reza was active in all facets of this project which generated a sound deliverable to the organization. His work was exemplary.
I would recommend Reza and RAA for any work in the life sciences and general manufacturing sector as he brings a comprehensive understanding of an organization to the design and architectural process. He has been a tremendous external asset for NYBC and I would expect he would prove to be that for any other like organization. He and RAA come with my highest recommendation.
